Wrongful Death Suit Filed After Taser Death

The family of a man who died after police stunned him several times with a Taser gun is filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Monterey County, the Sheriff's Office and the manufacturer of Taser guns. Jaime Teran Coronel, 27, died in hospital after being removed from life support a week after the Taser shooting (31JAN06). The lawsuit also accused police of beating Coronel before shooting him with the stun gun. The deputies involved were cleared of all wrongdoing in August (06) following a coroner's report that stated Coronel primary cause of death was methamphetamine.
