Tobacco More Dangerous than AIDS?

According to a recent study by the World Health Organization in the Public Library of Science Medicine, tobacco will be responsible for more deaths than AIDS by the year 2015. The report also states that tobacco, which causes 5.4 million deaths a year, will be responsible for 10% of all deaths globally, killing 6.5 million in 2015 and 8.3 million in 2030. The report accuses Big Tobacco companies of being responsible for the rise in deaths, and of targeting poorer countries due to their shrinking of market share in the US. The study says, "According to our baseline projection, smoking will kill 50 percent more people in 2015 than HIV/AIDS and will be responsible for 10 percent of all deaths globally."
