Seeking $12 million in Medical Malpractice

The adult children of Thomas L. May Senior are seeking up to $12 million in damages in the trial of a medical malpractice lawsuit. The children claim that there was negligence on the part of four doctors who treated their father at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. After having knee surgery May developed a condition known as sepsis, caused by inflammation, problems with blood clotting and low blood pressure. The sepsis led to respiratory problems, organ failure, pneumonia and an eventual heart attack. He died from what is known as adult respiratory distress syndrome. Doctors Nick Manitzas, Mark Mazzare, David Tuel and Todd Tyson have denied the allegations and say May received proper care and was preparing to go home when he got an infection that led to his death.
