School Faces Wrongful Death Suit

The family of a disabled teenager who died after a golf cart accident may file a wrongful death suit against the Kern County School District in Bakersfield, California. According to police, Alexis Soberanis was the passenger in the seat of a parked golf cart at Vista West High School. Soberanis crashed into a parked truck after hitting the accelerator and died ten days later. Soberanis' family state that he did not receive medical attention after the accident, and are demanding answers as to how exactly the school reacted. Attorney David Cohn says, “The district did not have the common decency to contact the parents. Alexis’ mother took it upon herself to figure out what happened.”
