Nursing Home Abuse

Do you have a loved one in an assisted living community? If so, are you concerned about nursing home abuse? Today people are living longer than ever before. At the same time, there are more families with either both parents working full time and/or single parent families. That make it difficult for adult children to care for their aging parents, which leads to the necessity of more and more assisted care communities. With that said, research shows that although neglect and abuse are present in many of America’s nursing home facilities, unexpected visits from “outsiders” can definitely reduce the incidents of abuse. Friends and families are encouraged to visit nursing homes on May 6 to evaluate the level of care provided in assisted living communities. According to Davis Morse, a lawyer for the Consumer Justice Group, “The statistics don't surprise me. Nursing home abuse is just not going away. I hear so many sad stories. Despite big money damages from lawsuits, the nursing home industry does not appear willing to change." So drop by unannounced. It may make more of a difference than you realize.
