Negligence Suit Filed After Parking Lot Shooting

The family of a man who was shot while unloading groceries in an unsafe parking lot is filing two negligence lawsuits against those allegedly responsible. Idrissa Salifou was killed two years ago (16OCT04) after being shot in the parking lot adjacent to his apartment. The 44-year-old died at the scene. Jeffrey Peraldo, the attorney representing Salifou's widow Fatoumata Idrissa, filed a suit against Phillips Management Group, which manages the complex, and G Partnership and its three owners. Idrissa, who is seeking more over $60,000 in damages, accuses the companies of negligence for not keeping the parking lot better lit. Peraldo says, "The security expert we hired identified Colonial Apartments as an 'extremely high crime area for crimes against persons’. "He was just a hard working father of two children doing two jobs to take care of his family."
