Man Survives Near-Fatal Motorcycle Accident

On September 24, 2008 Fred Schmitt was involved in an almost fatal motorcycle accident. Riding eastbound on the 150, a car pulled out in front of him - the force of which broke both arms and landed him on the hood of the car. Panicking, the driver proceeded to pull away and then slammed on the brakes. This caused Fred to windmill and land in a supine position on the pavement breaking his pelvis in three places. Twelve hours of surgery, 28 days in the hospital, plates & pins holding him together, he is on the road to recovery.
