Man Sentenced to Three Years for Vehicular Manslaughter

A man in San Francisco, California has been sentenced to three years in prison after causing the death of one woman and the permanent disabling of another in a car accident. John Hardiman was charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol for the accident in May (28MAY06). Hardiman fell asleep at the wheel of his car and crashed into a car containing Jayeon Hong, 25, Woo Sik Han, 22, and Jin Young Kim, 26. Han had left the car to make a phone call when the accident happened. Kim was injured with brain damage and paralysis, while Hong was immediately killed on impact. According to the district attorney's office, Hardiman registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.09 after the crash.
