Man and Two Sons Killed in Car Crash

A man and two of his sons died after he lost control of their car and collided with a pickup truck in Green County, Kentucky (28OCT06). Robert E. Pierce, 30, of Greensburg and his eight-year-old son Dylan Pierce were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Another son, six-year-old Ethan Pierce, was taken to Taylor County Regional Hospital where he later died. Pierce's third son, 10-year-old Cody Pierce, was flown to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville where he is in critical condition. According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, Robert Pierce's 2002 Mitsubishi ran off the side of the road, hitting an embankment before coming back up onto the road and crashing into a GMC pickup, then hitting a tree. All passengers were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the accident. Pickup driver Gerald Gilpin was not injured.
