Malpractice Trial Set in Case of Toddler
Mackayla Jespersen was 20 months old when she fell into a swimming pool at her family’s home on Nov. 7, 2003. After doctors allegedly declared her dead and disconnected her breathing tube she was revived back to life. A medical malpractice lawsuit filed by the family is scheduled to go to trial on Monday. The lawsuit claims Mackayla, now 6, suffered permanent brain damage. It was a police detective conducting a routine investigation who noticed her chest was moving and summoned doctors that saved her life.
