Jury Awards $24 Million in Medical Malpractice
Adam Porter, 34, was awarded by a jury almost $24 million for brain damage he suffered after going to the hospital to have a kidney stone removed. In 2001 Porter went to St. MaryĆ¢€™s Hospital and while having his kidney stone removed he suffered cardiac arrest, which interrupted the flow of oxygen to his brain. The injury put him in a wheelchair, took away his fine motor skills and caused spastic movements, severe double vision and slurred speech, according to the lawsuit.
