Investigation Into Baby Death

An investigation is being held on the death of a three-month-old baby who was killed by his Marine father - a state agency is deciding whether or not social workers in Fresno County failed in their responsibility to protect Roman Alexander Quiroz. Baby Alexander was taken into foster care for 72 hours while the Fresno Police Department questioned father Lance Cpl. Robert "Bobby" Quiroz, 20 after Alexander was admitted to hospital with a broken arm (13OCT06). Alexander was then given back to Quiroz, who was arrested a few weeks later when the baby was found unconscious on Saturday (18NOV06). Quiroz had dialed 911 from his west-central Fresno home and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder. According to the autopsy, Alexander died of blunt force trauma. Quiroz's bail has been set at $1 million.
