General Motors Recalls Corvettes

General Motors Corp. (GM) is recalling over 30,000 Corvettes after reports from drivers that the roof of the car came off. There have been 21 reports so far about the $45,000 sports car, but no reported accidents or injuries as of yet. Owners of 2005 models were asked to bring their cars into dealerships last year (05), and a formal recall was issued by GM (27MAY05) May 27th after reports that roofs were also detaching from the 2006 models. Washington-based consumer group Public Citizen president Joan Claybrook says, "It's a good thing that GM is doing this recall finally, because no roof is worse than a weak roof. The roof endangers other highway users as it flies off."
