Family Sues Medical Center

The family of a man who died when hospital staff failed to resuscitate him is suing the hospital in Orange Park, Florida. An Orange Park, Florida family intends on filing a lawsuit against the Orange Park Medical Center for a do no resuscitate order. Hector Soto-Velez, 82, died on Christmas morning last year (25DEC05) after being admitted to the Orange Park Medical Center with ankle pain. According to hospital records, Soto-Velez died of acute respiratory failure after his heart rate dropped following painkiller medication. The hospital staff claim that Soto-Velez's son Jimmy Soto had signed a no-resuscitate order - but Soto denies ever signing any such document and had the form reviewed by a national handwriting expert who confirmed that Soto did not sign the forms.
