Family Sue After Woman Drowns

The family of a woman who drowned after driving her car off a public boat ramp in Alameda, California has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the state boating department and the city of Alameda. The body of Zehra Attari, 55, was found by divers 43 days after she was reported missing (20DEC05). Although Attari's death was classed as an accident by Police and California Highway Patrol investigators, Attari's widower Tasadduq Attari, and two daughters Ruby Ali and Huma Attari, are filing suit against the city for failing to erect a barrier on the street to prevent cars from driving into the estuary. Terri Highsmith, the Alameda City attorney, gave no comment on the case.
