Drunk Driver Sentenced to 14 Years For Vehicular Manslaughter

A man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after killing another man in a drunken car accident (15OCT05). Juan Carlos Vega-Garcia was intoxicated when his 1996 Chevy Tahoe crashed into Frank Christopher Torres' 1991 Ford Mustang, killing him and causing severe injuries to his daughter, Alexandria Torres. Vega-Garcia received 10 years for vehicular manslaughter; three years for causing great bodily injury to Alexandria Torres, and had one year added, by statute, because there were multiple victims. Deputy Public Defender Diana Duey says, "It was a very sad case for everybody. Tragic. He was on probation for DUI, which is one of the problems."
