Day Care Provider To Stand Trial for Abuse

A judge ruled today (26OCT06) that a day care provider in San Ramon, California must stand trial on charges of child abuse after an infant girl suffered a severe brain injury while in her care. 44-year-old Navy Saha was looking after the child at the day care center she ran out of her San Ramon home. According to prosecutors, she shook the 10-month-old baby, causing the child to be brain damaged (03NOV06). Superior Court Judge Robert Barclay made his decision following a preliminary hearing held on three separate days since August: Saha will face charges of child abuse as well as inflicting great bodily injury and brain damage, and will appear for a pre-trial arraignment in Superior Court in Martinez (08NOV06). She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
