Cruise Line Negligence Suit Dismissed

A Miami judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed against the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line after a cruise passenger disappeared. The family of Gregory A. Smith, IV, filed suit against the line after Smith disappeared from the Brilliance of the Seas while on his honeymoon in the Aegean Sea (05). Smith's body was never found, although bloodstains were discovered underneath the newlywed's cabin balcony, leading Smith's parents to believe their son was murdered. The lawsuit accused the cruise company of covering up the disappearance in order to prevent any bad publicity or liability. But Royal Caribbean insists they met all legal requirements by contacting the FBI and other authorities immediately. Smith's disappearance is still being investigated by the FBI.
