City Sued for Wrongful Termination

Wayne Williams, a 12-year employee of Shelbyville, was terminated from his position last May following action her intended to take in regards to a controversial asphalt plant. He is now suing his former employer for breach of contract and wrongful termination, according to papers filed in Bedford County Circuit Court this week. Williams' suit states that his actions "did not constitute insubordination nor incompetence. He did nothing to justify a suspension or dismissal." The suit also claims the suspension and dismissal "were contrary to the provisions as set out in the employee handbook."
