Chemical Spill Shuts Down Highway

A highway in Kentucky was closed for approximately ten hours yesterday (13NOV06) after a tanker overturned and caused a chemical spill. Interstate 75 in Scott County, Kentucky was shut down when a truck driver blew a tire and spilled his load of sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite, which can cause burns to the skin or to the respiratory passages if inhaled. No people were hurt as a result of the chemical spill. The driver was not seriously injured.
