Bus Accidents Injure 17,000 Children Annually
According to recent studies, school bus accidents cause far more injuries than initially believed. 17,000 children are sent to emergency rooms every year as a result of accidents related to school buses. The American Academy of Pediatrics advises that all new school buses should be equipped with lap-shoulder safety belts - so far, only the states of California, Louisiana, Florida, New Jersey and New York require safety belts on their buses.
