Boy Loses Eye in Hunting Accident

An 11-year-old boy lost his left eye after being shot at by another youth on a hunting trip (30OCT06). The victim was on a state-organized junior pheasant hunt at the Feather River Wildlife area in Sacramento when another boy fired his .20 gauge shotgun from approximately 20-30 feet away and accidentally hit him, causing him to lose his left eye. The trip was organized by the Department of Fish and Game, who may be liable for the boy's injury.
