Boy, 9, unscathed after fiery ATV crash

While trying to cross the street on his ATV, a 9-year-old boy escaped serious injury, despite being thrown off the vehicle after it was hit by a minivan before it burst into flames. Police said the boy should never have been riding the vehicle since the boy was under the age limit. The adult riding another ATV was supervising both the 9-year-old boy and his own eight-year-old son - who was also riding an ATV - has been charged. The charges are three counts of allowing the operation of unregistered recreational vehicles and the unsafe operation of them; two counts of allowing a child under 161/2 to cross a highway on an ATV; and trespassing on the power line right of way.
