Both Sides Rest Case in Medical Malpractice Suit

A lawsuit for the wrongful death of a baby was rested on both sides last week. Dr. Jason Evans was accused of negligence during the delivery of baby Caleb Taylor two years ago (04). According to the prosecution, Caleb died nine days after his birth because Dr. Evans waited too long to perform a c-section on Caleb's mother, Casey Taylor. The defense claims that Dr. Evans was unable to perform the c-section as the anesthesiologist had not yet arrived at the hospital. The amount of compensation for the suffering and loss caused by Caleb's death will be determined by a jury. There is a cap of $885,000 for wrongful death in Maryland.
