Booster Seat Bill Sent to Senate
Car accidents are the single largest cause of death for children ages 4 to 8. “Experts estimate 58 percent fewer children in this age group would be killed in vehicle crashes each year if booster seats were used in addition to seat belts,†says state Sen. Steven Baddour. Senate Bill 2018 is on its way to the floor of the Senate, if passed, children through the age of 8, or 4 feet, 9 inches tall, will be required to use booster seats as well as seat belts when traveling in an automobile. The federal government is providing $25 million over the next four years to states adopting booster seat laws.
