Albany Doctor Charged with Malpractice

A doctor has been ordered to pay $5 million in a medical malpractice suit in Albany, New York. Benita Davis Parker went to gynecologist Dr William Sewell for a tubal ligation six years ago. Upon discovering that Parker had two large ovarian cysts, Dr Sewell attempted to remove them but they ruptured, leaving material in her body that led to a serious infection two months later, a hysterectomy and the removal of three feet of her large intestine. Sewell's attorney Dawn Benson states that he will appeal against the ruling.
