1 Million Settlement in Nursing Home Case
Helen Menneke, who was suffering from dementia, was admitted to Winchester House, a nursing home, in January 2004. Over the course of the year Menneke fell several times suffering a brain injury and broken bones. Injuries from a final fall in December 2004 required surgery, and Menneke died in January 2005. Menneke’s family filed a negligence lawsuit in 2005. The lawsuit was settled out of court after mediation and the family will receive $1 million.
